Professional Engineers Curling League

The Professional Engineers League is now into our 62nd season.    Our league offers both competitiveness and a social atmosphere.

Recent Updates:

Due to the cancellation of tournaments the schedule has been modified for the 2022 portion of the season.

We will now curl every weekend, and will finish our Playoffs on March 12, 2022.

Here is our current schedule and standings as of January 20, 2022.

Please note to accomodate VCC holding the Doubles on February 26, we will start a half hour early at 8:00 on that day only.

Schedule Jan 20 22

We start the season with a skill competition with fresh apple pies as prizes and we have a turkey shoot in December with frozen turkeys as prizes, and a closing party where fine wines are awarded to each and every team.

  • Our league plays a full round robin schedule, with an end of season playoff, with all teams in the playoff.
  • We are one of the only leagues at VCC that still curls the originally traditional full 10 ends, but we currently have a 2.5 hour time slot, compared to most leagues curl with a 2 hour time slot.  (We do play to a bell.  You need to play at a good pace to get in 10 ends)
  • Our league is now in our 62st year.
  • Membership in the league also gives you a priority option to participate in the usually sold-out Professional Engineer’ Bonspiel which is held on the Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12, 2022.  This is also Super Bowl weekend.  This year will be the 52nd anniversary bonspiel.

Save the Date: Next years' Professional Engineers Curling Bonspiel is scheduled for Friday, February 10and Saturday, February 11, 2023.

  • There is a good balance between competitiveness and social. In other words we have a lot of fun but at the same time we are out to win.
  • The curling fees for the season includes:
    1. curling ice rental to the VCC
    2. an opening skills competition where fresh apple pies are awarded to the best team and individuals
    3. a turkey shoot in late December where real turkeys (not gift certificates) are the prizes
    4. a full round robin of play followed by a four-game playoff
    5. closing ceremonies at the end of the season where fine wines are awarded as prizes. (All teams will win some wine)
    6. we do not have any 50/50 draws or anything like that to finance league activities. Your fee includes everything.
  • A person simply cannot go wrong by joining our league. It is the best possible league to curl in.
  • The 8:30 starting time on Saturday morning has the benefit of getting you going for the weekend.
  • If you join our league, we will guarantee you a good time and you will meet a lot of new friends.
  • All league has space for a 16 team roster.  We currently have 14 teams, so we are still looking for individual curlers in all positions, and teams who wish to  join us for this season, as a fifth and curl part time.
