The Engineers League has been going for over 50 years and moved to VCC when curling ceased at the North Shore Winter Club. It offers both competitiveness and a social atmosphere.

The season includes an opening mini bonspiel in which 16 fresh apple pies are awarded to the best teams, a turkey shoot in December with 16 frozen turkeys as prizes, and a closing party where over $2000 in fine wines are awarded to each and every team.

  • At present the league has 14 teams and would like to eventually expand to 16 teams.
  • We’re the only league anywhere that still curls the originally traditional full 10 ends. All other leagues curl 8 ends, or less.
  • Our league has been continuously on-going for close to 60 years.
  • Membership in the league gives you a priority option to participate in the usually sold-out Professional Engineer’ Bonspiel which is held during the last weekend in January. This bonspiel has been going for 47 years.
  • There is a good balance between competitiveness and social. In other words we have a lot of fun but at the same time we are out to win.
  • The charge for curling in the 2016/17 season is in the range of $1320 for a team or $330 per person for a 19-game season. This fee includes:

            - curling charges to the VCC.

            - an opening mini bonspiel where 16 fresh apple pies are awarded to the best teams.

            - a Turkey Shoot in late December where 16 real turkeys (not gift certificates) are awarded to the best teams.

            - a 13-game round robin of play followed by a 4-game play-off.

            - closing ceremonies at the end of the season where over $2000 in fine wines are awarded to the various teams. (All teams get some wine)

            - we do not have any 50/50 draws or anything like that to finance league activities. Your fee includes everything.

  • A person simply cannot go wrong by joining our league. t is the best possible league to curl in.
  • The 8:30 starting time on Saturday morning has the benefit of getting you going for the weekend.
  • Parking at the curling rink on Saturday mornings is not an issue, in comparison to curling on a weekday evening when parking is at a premium.
  • If you join our league, we will guarantee you a good time and you will meet a lot of new friends.
